Exploring the intersection of the built and natural world
Fauxliage: Disguised Cell Phone Towers of the American West, is a monograph of Annette LeMay Burke's cell tower images. Burke embarked on a series of roadtrips throughout ten western states documenting the proliferation and variety of disguised cell phone towers and questioning the trade-off of manufactured landscapes in exchange for connectivity. The color images are beautifully rendered by Daylight Books and present the modern world with a healthy dose of irony. The forward is written by Ann M. Jastrab, Executive Director at the Center for Photographic Art (CPA) in Carmel, California. An essay by Burke discusses how technology is modifying our environment, manufactured nature, surveillance, plastic pollution and ersatz landscapes. Special edition prints are also available.
